The first phase of the COIL4PURPOSE project were a series of online workshops between January to February where all partners began the process of collaboration.

During the first workshop, representatives from Duy Tan University in Vietnam, Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology in Cambodia, Binus University in Indonesia, Asian Institute of Technology and Thammasat University in Thailand, and Social Enterprise Academy in Scotland presented about previous and current COIL programmes in their institutions. Representatives from the three schools of Glasgow Caledonian University (School of Health and Life Sciences, School of Computing, Engineering, and Built Environment, and School for Business and Society) also shared about the different initiatives happening in their schools.

The succeeding workshops were spent in smaller breakout rooms where each partner had the opportunity to share their work and interest in each of the three themes: Healthy Lives, Just Societies, and Sustainable Environments. They were also spent preparing for the visit of Southeast Asian partners to Scotland during the second week of February.

The final workshop, held on 29th February, was spent consolidating learnings and following-up work from the visit in Scotland, and also in preparation for the final conference to be held in Da Nang, Vietnam, on 9th March.
